Nothing beats the convenience of a magnetic
landing net
release. Many mechanical releases, such as the traditional "French clip,"
require that you find, grab, and squeeze the clip when you need to
release the landing net for use (often a busy moment). Then you need
both hands to reconnect when you are ready to hang it on your back
again. With a magnetic release you
merely grab the landing net and give it a yank. When you are finished you need
only get the net in close proximity and the magnets "seek" each
other and snap together - done.
Typical magnetic releases are purchased
separately from the landing net and are tied on in a variety of ways to the
end of the handle or top of the hoop. When attached to the hoop, the
magnet assembly flops around when netting a fish, causing most
fishermen to attach it to the end of the handle where it is less of
a nuisance. However, there are many advantages to carrying
your landing net with the hoop up and the handle down. The most obvious is
that as you reach around to get your net - you grab the handle - not
the hoop. A little less obvious, until you walk through high
brush, is that the bag is carried higher in the hoop up position and
is less likely to snag and get pulled off.
Evergreen Nets has developed a unique and
innovative magnetic landing net release. The net side of the magnetic
coupling is an unobtrusive integral part of the landing net - no flopping, nothing to
tie on. The small but powerful magnets - one permanently
attached to the net and one attached to the ring on the back of your
vest - "seek and snap" together. Just give the landing net handle a pull when
you are ready to use it - it works great!
The Integral Magnetic Release is available as
an option on every Evergreen landing net style.
